Inspiration leading to Something New
Back in October of 2018, I started my daily drawing meditations. I spend a few minutes, every day, drawing a simple generative pattern. Inspiration comes from many sources, and are usually simple patterns from nature.
But today’s inspiration came from another artist. My piece doesn’t look like hers, at all. When I looked at her piece, I thought “iterative growth of a line”.
Here’s the post/video that inspired me:
And here’s what I drew:
When I dipped the pen in ink, and drew the first line, I had no idea how the image was going to develop. But once I got started, the organic essence started to appear and I decided to just run with it.
Update (5/12/19)
Continuing to play with this evolving pattern, and adding colors today.
Yesterday, a friend said that drawing reminded her of Jazz music. Yes! As the central line pattern grows, the curvy loops follow this foundation. Reminds me of jazz improvisation around a melody and chord progression.
